Business Challenge:
Started in 1999 by Sam Morgan, Trade Me is New Zealand’s answer to eBay, serving 2.5 million registered users and more than 55 million pages daily. On average, the auction portal handles about six million auctions a month.
With traffic growing at 40 percent each year, Trade Me needed to ensure that its network infrastructure could provide users with fast and uninterrupted access. It looked for a solution that would be able to handle the high traffic growth as well as load balancing requirements across two data centers. Following the deployment of F5 VIPRION with BIG-IP GTM modules, Trade Me now has a platform that is scalable and flexible, and is able to keep pace with the meteoric traffic growth. F5 iRules was also use to route ISP traffic during an outage, mitigating a major problem.
Business Benefits:
“The whole experience with F5 has been hugely successful. We’ve now got a platform that’s scalable and flexible. Even with all the growth and initiatives that are coming through the business, we’re not going to have any issues from a network point of view.”
