This hands-on, dynamic 2-day workshop is designed to give you all the skills you need to move to the next level with NGINX! You will learn how to deploy your applications in an agile way with the NGINX ecosystem, including configuring the NGINX web server as a reverse proxy and load balancer for your applications. You will also learn how to configure NGINX as an API Gateway, and to manage API traffic and monitor applications via the NGINX Dashboard.

Other topics covered include application security with NGINX App Protect, containerized deployments in a Kubernetes cluster, NGINX Ingress Controller for Kubernetes.

Day 1 Topics Covered:

  • Install NGINX, configure web server, reverse proxying, HTTP Load balancing
  • Monitor your applications with the NGINX Plus Dashboard
  • Configure NGINX as an API Gateway

Day 2:

  • Securing web traffic with HTTPS
  • Configuring the NGINX App Protect WAF
  • Deploying applications in a Kubernetes cluster & using NGINX Ingress Controller for Kubernetes
  • Configuring the Ingress and VirtualServer resources to route application traffic & configuring WAF policies in Kubernetes

Trainee Pre-requisites:
Participants should have a basic understanding of web servers and the Unix command line. Required skills include running Unix commands, navigating the file system, and creating and editing text files.

Machine Requirements:
Trainee laptop needs to have an SSH client to connect to the training instances in AWS, and a web browser. Virtual machines for each trainee will be set up by the NGINX trainer and will be sent to each trainee 2 days before the training date.
