F5 expands global footprint by deploying points of presence in additional geographic locations, making its Silverline offerings available to customers across Asia Pacific
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – F5 Networks (NASDAQ: FFIV) announced today the opening of a new regional point of presence (PoP) in Sydney, Australia, as part of its aggressive global expansion strategy to deploy PoPs in additional geographic locations to satisfy growing customer demand for its Silverline Managed Services.
Further Regional PoP expansion is planned for Hong Kong by the second quarter of fiscal year 2020, with three additional strategic Regional PoP locations to be opened by the close of FY20.
With DDoS attacks predicted to reach 30,000 per month by 2020 in Australia alone, F5 is now extending its Silverline Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Silverline DDoS Protection to Australian customers, providing them with the ability to protect applications and web properties without upfront investments in IT infrastructure and support.
The new regional PoPs will provide improved application performance and reduced latency for even more customers, across additional regions, whose applications are secured by the Silverline Managed Services Platform.
With the global expansion into additional regions, including today’s announcement in Australia, Silverline continues to provide high-value managed security services, including DDoS Protection, Web Application Firewall, IP Reputation Filtering, and forthcoming Advanced Bot Protection, to keep applications secure, wherever they reside.
F5’s Silverline Managed Security Services offerings include:
Silverline Web Application Firewall (WAF)
F5’s Silverline WAF is a cloud-based security service built on the NSS Labs-recommended F5 BIG-IP Application Security Manager™ (ASM), with 24/7 support from highly specialised security experts to help organisations protect web apps and data, as well as ensure compliance with industry security standards.
Silverline DDoS Protection
F5’s Silverline DDoS Protection is a managed, cloud-delivered protection service that detects and mitigates DDoS attacks in real-time, with industry-leading DDoS attack mitigation bandwidth to stop even the largest of volumetric DDoS attacks from ever reaching the network infrastructure.
“We are very excited to be able to offer Australian customers efficient and cost-effective solutions that will enable them to deliver and protect applications and web properties without constraints. F5’s first Regional PoP in Sydney provides core F5 technologies as Managed Services to help our ANZ customers embrace hybrid deployments without forsaking the benefits they’ve seen in the data center.”
Jason Baden, Regional Vice President, F5 Networks
“With a local Silverline PoP, our customers in Australia are now able to leverage Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) to intelligently route end-users’ traffic through the Silverline Managed Services Platform’s PoPs, without latency issues. The new global Regional PoP expansion will open up many new opportunities for our local customers.”
David Arthur, Security Solutions Architect, F5 Networks
