Prestigious List Honors the Year’s Most Promising Private Technology Ventures from the North American Business Region
BELMONT, CALIF. – Defense.Net, the only company designed to mitigate the increasing scale and sophistication of modern Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, today announced that it has been selected as a Red Herring Top 100 North America winner for 2014. The award recognizes the leading private companies from North America and celebrates their innovations and technologies across their respective industries.
Red Herring has been selecting the most exciting and promising start-ups and “scale ups” since 1995. Winning companies are still evaluated individually from a large pool of hundreds of candidates based across North America. Twenty major criteria underlie the scoring and process. They include, among others: the candidate company’s addressable market size, its IP and patents, its financing, the proof of concept, trailing revenues and management’s expertise. Each company goes through an individual interview after filling out a thorough submission, complemented by a due diligence. This unique assessment of potential is complemented by a review of the company’s actual track record and standing, which allows Red Herring to see past the “buzz” and make the list a valuable instrument for discovering and advocating the greatest business opportunities in the industry.
“Defense.Net is honored to be recognized in the prestigious list of Red Herring Top 100 award winners,” said Chris Risley, CEO of Defense.Net. “We are continuing to develop ground breaking DDoS mitigation technologies to protect businesses, organizations and critical infrastructure from the growing threat of DDoS attacks, and this award is a validation of our efforts to date.”
Winning selections for the 2014 edition of the Red Herring 100 North America award are based upon technological innovation, management strength, market size, investor record, customer acquisition and financial health. Red Herring editors have been the first to recognize successful companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, Palo Alto Networks and eBay.
Addendum: F5 Networks acquired Defense.Net in May, 2014
