Encrypted Email

Receiving Secured Emails from F5

F5 uses the Cisco Registered Envelope Service (CRES) to easily exchange secured emails with external parties.

How it Works

When someone at F5 sends you a secured email you will receive a notification in your inbox. This notification includes the encrypted message in an attachment. This attachment is the Secured Envelope and remains available for 24 hours.  You can open the secured message once you have completed the simple registration process, which includes creating your CRES password. Once registered, you can quickly open other secured messages using the CRES password you created.

First-time Recipient Registration

When a Registered Envelope is received for the first time, you will be prompted to complete the registration when the encrypted message is opened.  Follow these steps to complete the registration:

  1. Save and open the attachment in the secured message notice. This opens the Registered Envelope window.
  2. Click Register.
  3. Complete the New User Registration:
    • Enter Personal Information
    • Create Password
    • Select Security Questions
  4. Click Register. You will receive a message confirming your account creation and asking you to check your email for instruction to activate your account.
  5. Activate your account:
    • Open the Please activate with CRES email.
    • Click the Click here to activate this account link. You will receive an email address confirmed message advising you to close this browser and return to the Registered Envelope to open it.
