LiveJournal Selects Defense.Net to Protect Against Growing Threat of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attacks and the Harmful Side Effects of Traditional Mitigation

LiveJournal, one of the world’s largest social media blogging communities, has selected Defense.Net’s DDoS Frontline service to protect the company’s websites from ongoing DDoS attacks that have greatly escalated in scale and complexity over the past year. Defense.Net also protects against the harmful side effects that come with traditional DDoS mitigation.

Since the first DDoS attack on its websites in 2010, LiveJournal had used a DDoS mitigation service that protected the site from outages. In 2013, LiveJournal experienced three to four large scale (greater than 30 Gbps) attacks which they had never seen before. Whilst mitigating attacks, collateral damage is expected, but LiveJournal wanted to improve the mitigation to reduce this and looked to Defense.Net to help.
