F5 Distributed Cloud Services: Security innovation built for operational scale

F5 ADSP | March 30, 2026

Security has always been at the forefront of F5 Distributed Cloud Services. Customers deploy Distributed Cloud Services to protect applications, APIs, and users across increasingly complex environments.

With the latest upgrade, we’re delivering some of our most impactful security advances yet—while also investing in something just as important and often less visible: the operational improvements that help teams run, govern, and trust the platform every day.

Security leads the way in the recent upgrade

Our recent upgrade continues to raise the bar for application and API protection, helping teams address evolving threats without adding operational complexity.

AI‑enabled WAF risk scoring is now generally available, introducing AI‑powered risk classification that correlates multiple signals to label traffic as high, medium, or low risk. By combining signatures, machine learning, and behavioral indicators, teams can move more confidently from monitoring to enforcement, while minimizing the manual tuning that has traditionally slowed WAF adoption.

F5 Distributed Cloud Bot Defense for mobile apps is easier to deploy and manage directly from the console. With self‑service mobile SDK onboarding and console‑based policy management, teams can protect mobile applications with significantly less friction across the deployment lifecycle.

API security continues to evolve as well, with broader discovery and deeper visibility across environments:

  • Improvements in API discovery scalability for F5 BIG‑IP environments
  • Verified F5 NGINX Ingress Controller integration for Kubernetes
  • Vulnerability mapping aligned to the OWASP API Top 10
  • Stronger identity context through expanded JSON Web Token (JWT) resolution

Together, these provide a more unified, standards‑based view of APIs across BIG‑IP, NGINX, and Kubernetes.

Operational improvements that make security stick

Security innovation only delivers long‑term value when teams can operate the platform with confidence—an essential foundation of the F5 Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP). The recent upgrade to Distributed Cloud Services includes a set of operational enhancements designed to improve visibility, control, and trust across day‑to‑day workflows.

Administrators can now configure console session timeouts to better align with organizational security and compliance requirements. Support for both idle and absolute session timeouts, along with flexible defaults, gives teams more control over how long administrative sessions remain active, while balancing usability with governance in regulated and security‑sensitive environments.

The usage and billing experience has also been enhanced with more granular, hourly‑refreshed reporting, customizable date ranges, and CSV export. These updates make it easier for teams to understand consumption patterns, reconcile usage, and plan for growth over time.

Global Log Receiver (GLR) usability has improved with clear status indicators surfaced directly in the UI. At a glance, teams can see whether log streaming is operational, using status values such as up, down, or unknown to quickly verify log streaming health and identify issues without relying on generic error messages.

The recent Distributed Cloud Services upgrade also advances regional logging capabilities. GLR support has been added to the U.S. LMA, and a new Canada LMA region is now available with GLR. Together, these additions support customers with data residency and regional operations requirements, while maintaining consistent logging and streaming capabilities across regions. This milestone reflects continued investment in regional support for customers operating under data residency and sovereignty requirements.

Security you can trust, operations you can run

The latest upgrade to Distributed Cloud Services reinforces a simple idea: security innovation and operational confidence must go hand-in-hand. From AI‑driven protection and simplified onboarding to configurable governance controls, clearer telemetry, healthier log pipelines, and expanded regional support, this update is designed to help teams to both deploy security and operate it successfully at scale.
