For mobile operators, services delivery continues to dramatically evolve. This presents both challenges in and opportunities to be realized at the service layer; from network functions virtualization, security for IoT, video optimization, and to the promise of 5G.
In the just-released Heavy Reading report, operators were asked technical and business drivers and the associated challenges with mobile service delivery. The responses to the question on the immediate challenges to be addressed in 2016 are shown in the figure below. The challenges are tightly spaced and reflect that the traditional service delivery model is under considerable pressure to evolve to a more agile and flexible service delivery model that is capable of delivery enhanced CEM in a more cost efficient manner.
