10 innovative nonprofits in Africa, Latin America, and the U.S. selected for F5’s 2025 Tech for Good grants

Life at F5 | December 01, 2025

Since we introduced climate justice to the criteria for our annual Tech for Good grants three years ago, nonprofits around the world have poured in with hundreds of applications that describe the high socio-economic costs borne by the most vulnerable populations contributing the least to climate change. If anything, these applications describe how the climate shocks facing people of color and marginalized racial and ethnic communities are only becoming more acute, whether it is from the hazards of “hydroclimate whiplash” or weakened environmental protections.

We believe technology can be one of the most effective tools in accelerating the response to these climate hazards, but even more so when we put these technology resources in the hands of those who understand community needs and risks: local nonprofits. With a $50,000 USD grant from F5 to invest in technology, nonprofits from Argentina to Zimbabwe have localized technologies ranging from apps to AI to the global issues of climate change.

This year, our grant selection committee of F5 employees received over 100 applications, and we are thrilled to announce the 10 innovative nonprofits they ultimately selected for a 2025 Tech for Good grant:

Alabaster international

Alabaster International

Focus: AI-powered agriculture and carbon tracking for Indigenous women farmers

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: Alabaster International will use the grant to scale its EnsetAI mobile app—an AI-driven tool supporting Indigenous women farmers in Ethiopia with crop guidance, disease detection, and carbon tracking—helping 20,000 farmers restore 10,000 hectares (about 24,700 acres) of land and strengthen food security through regenerative agroforestry.

Eco brix

Eco Brixs

Focus: Digital literacy and recycling app for marginalized waste collectors

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: Eco Brixs will use the grant to expand digital literacy training for 1,000 waste collectors—mostly women and people with disabilities—enabling them to use the Waste Recovery App to track recycling, earn 20% more income, and help recycle 840 tonnes (about 1.85 million pounds) of plastic across southern Uganda.

EldoHub Innovation Centre graduation

EldoHub Innovation Centre

Focus: Agritech, green innovation, and digital inclusion for Indigenous farmers

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: EldoHub Innovation Centre will use the grant to expand its agritech and green innovation programs, equipping Indigenous farmers and entrepreneurs in Kenya’s marginalized regions with mobile climate tools, AI-powered weather alerts, and low-cost prototyping technology to improve food security, reforest 200+ hectares (about 494 acres), and create 15,000 green jobs.

 Energy Peace Partners

Energy Peace Partners

Focus: Renewable energy access and monitoring for fragile, conflict-affected regions

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: Energy Peace Partners will use the grant to deploy remote monitoring and AI tools across new renewable mini-grid sites in fragile Sub-Saharan African countries, enabling accurate tracking of energy generation for the Peace Renewable Energy Credit (P-REC) Fund, which will electrify 35 communities, connect over 800,000 people, and create 1,500 green jobs.

Knowledge Enhancement Network Foundation (KEN-F)

Knowledge Enhancement Network Foundation (KEN-F)

Focus: Solar-powered clean energy and water systems for women, girls, and LGBTQ+ people

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: Knowledge Enhancement Network Foundation (KEN-F) will use the grant to install solar-powered water purification systems, household solar kits, and clean cookstoves in rural Namayingo, Uganda, providing safe water and clean energy for 1,500 Indigenous women, girls, and LGBTQ+ individuals, while reducing emissions and risks of gender-based violence.

Nest

Nest

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: People’s Planet Project will use the grant to equip the Yanomami people of Brazil with filmmaking and geospatial mapping tools to monitor and defend 2 million hectares (about 4.9 million acres) of forest, empowering Indigenous environmental defenders to document illegal mining, protect biodiversity, and strengthen community-led land governance.

Tanzania Wote Equality Alliance (TAWEA)

Tanzania Wote Equality Alliance (TAWEA)

Focus: Climate resilience alerts and conservation education via mobile systems

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: Tanzania Wote Equality Alliance (TAWEA) will use the grant to launch GreenAlert, a mobile climate-resilience system (SMS/voice/radio) delivering forest and drought alerts, pasture maps, and conservation education to 30,000 people in Kasulu to reduce encroachment, preserve forests, and strengthen community resilience

The STEAM Generation

The STEAM Generation

Focus: Climate education and digital equity for Black and Brown youth

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: The STEAM Generation will use the grant to expand its Environmental Engineering program by providing laptops, sensors, and digital learning tools to 1,500 Black and Brown youth in underserved U.S. communities, empowering them to design clean water systems, reduce plastic waste, and simulate renewable energy projects that advance environmental justice and digital equity.

Women for Biodiversity (Corporación Women for Biodiversity)

Women for Biodiversity (Corporación Women for Biodiversity)

Focus: Solar-powered reproductive health clinic for Indigenous communities

How the Tech for Good grant will be used: Women for Biodiversity will use the grant to power an intercultural gynecology-obstetrics clinic with a solar system and essential equipment, restoring reproductive health services for 5,000 Ette-Ennaka Narakajmanta Indigenous people in Colombia and training local women to operate and sustain it.
